Electrified freight and last-mile delivery

Delivery fleets electrify faster than the infrastructure that has to serve them. Where chargers go, how many go there, and how vehicles are scheduled against them are coupled decisions, and they are made before the demand and the grid conditions they will meet are known.

I work on both halves of that. At the network scale the question is siting charging infrastructure across a metropolitan last-mile system, at a size where the instance no longer fits a single solver and the method has to be parallel. At the depot scale the question is producing charge schedules a depot can actually run, under connection limits, tariffs, and uncertain arrivals. The same electrification pressure shows up in mixed fleets, including the routing of drone and ground vehicles together for time-sensitive deliveries.
